Many people are daunted by the idea of promotion. They just don’t know where to start. Promotion is a very important part of the marketing mix (4 P’s: product, place, price, and promotion). Many people are stuck at the idea of knowing where to place their ads, how many to put out there, and what to put on them. As a general rule, a promotional ad should have in the range of 5-7 major components in the ad, such as adjectives, describing the product, pictures would count as one, and descriptors about the company. With this being said let’s move on to some low to no cost ways to easily promote your business.

1. Embrace social media…

This could mean starting to film things and take pictures if you haven’t before, to put up multimedia on platforms such as YouTube and the new IGTV. This branches out your brand and may reach new audiences, that your brand’s previous promotion hasn’t reached before.  Be sure your business profile includes a good description, keywords and a link to your website. Look for groups or conversations that talk about your type of products or services and participate in the conversations, but don’t spam them with constant promos for what you sell. Platforms to use can be: YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn, and google plus, and many more up and coming options. it’s a good idea, to look at all available options, before deciding what works best for your brand.

2. SEO your company website…

Also known as submitting your website’s URL to search engines. You would be surprised how many companies don’t do this and end up losing traction or audience engagement just because no one can find their website. Consequently, their businesses aren’t reaching the audience and people that they want to reach. Google and Bing both offer a free listing for local businesses.

3. Hire brand ambassadors…

This one might be for more specific product selling brands. Even if this seems intimidating at first it will help target the younger generations. If they are looking up to someone, and that influencer happens to be using your product, or recommending your website, then there is a good chance, that the viewer is going to get a good view of your brand. Even if you start out by asking satisfied customers to share their great experience on their social channels.

4. Create a Standout website…

This one might seem obvious, but many brands don’t have a website or don’t know enough about creating a website. Then it blends in with all their competition and eventually fades away. Which can happen in today’s society if you’re not being careful. Learning about whatever website maker you use (whether it’s Wix, WordPress, square space, Godaddy…etc.)  that provide templates and tools that make it easy to create a basic website. they can help you to use those recourses that they give you to make your website pop out to your consumers.

5. Set up a Newsletter…

Email marketing is a highly effective way to interact with potential and existing clients. This is a tactic that A LOT of companies and brands do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it too! All it takes is a template email and starting out with a couple done before it launches. One of the most important parts of email marketing is getting people to sign up for it. There are many ways to reach people, including having a window pop up on your website. When a customer enters the website if you give customers discounts on your product if they sign up. Putting an emil sign up box at the top, or bottom of the website as a constant reminder to sign up for “the latest email, or trend”.
